Located on 2.5 acres in the Texas Medical Center (TMC), the Ronald McDonald House of Houston provides a home for families with children being treated at TMC hospitals. The three-story 54,000 square foot house, with its fifty guest rooms, family-friendly kitchens and comfortable common areas, creates an atmosphere of caring and support while the children and their families are away from their homes.
The Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization. A Capital Campaign was launched in 1994 to raise funds so that this dream could become a reality. The success of this campaign was due to the wide community support of volunteer, corporate and philanthropic organizations. This house is the vision of a large number of caring individuals who were guided by the House's Board of Directors and special building committees. These groups were actively involved in every step of the House's planning, design and construction. As a result of this participatory process and architectural collaboration, a house has evolved which represents the ideals and goals of this unique group of people.
